Having gone through the phases of redesigning the original concept into a prototype, actually building it in the workshops and after that finding better solutions for the shape, materials and processes used for a mass product version. Now it was time to evaluate the work done starting with the two products made, but also assessing the overall project regarding planning and orientation.

Evaluation

Conclusion

The product line Mycelio is ready to face sustainability issues while maintaining the convenience in coffee brewing just like existing Nespresso machines. What makes it possible is the biodegradable packaging that can simply be tossed in the organic waste bin. The Mycelio Deluxe machine adds the possibility to make wonderful milk based coffees. Mycelio makes coffee making more sustainable and the production of coffee more circular.

This was al possible due to project phases, starting with analysis, where research is done do find important insights to formulate the design vision and requirements, that outline the goals. Moving on during the ideation phase the product idea is formulated by exploration of diverse solutions to address the challenge. While the detailed design has a vital role in shaping the final product, bringing clarity and translating conceptual ideas into practical and implementable features. The final phase evaluation takes a step back to critically evaluate the product both based on the requirements, but also user insights. Moreover cost calculations and life cycle analysis are used to assess if the set aims are reached.

The combination of these phases not only ensured a understanding of the project but also gave a good approach that balances functionality, aesthetics, and feasibility. The process is successful as plain ideas are transformed into tangible, user-centred solutions.

The team certainly had their ups and down as it is the first time working together with people from different backgrounds in a multidisciplinary challenge. The project took on a rough start, resulting in delay with finishing the first phases. Despite that, the members of Group 8 can proudly look back at this module, where a lot has been learned both about bringing a consumer product to the market, but also about interdisciplinary teamwork between the studies.
